MATT “BROKE” BOLAND

Rust Belt songwriter • Dark Americana • Rhythm & Blues • Roots Rock

Erie, Pennsylvania

Matt “Broke” Boland is an Erie, Pennsylvania songwriter, performer, and bandleader whose music pulls from Americana, folk, rhythm and blues, rockabilly, punk, and old-school rock & roll.

With more than two decades of original music behind him, Boland now brings that catalog to the stage through two distinct live formats: the atmospheric and theatrical Broke Boland’s String Show and the electric Matt “Broke” Boland Rhythm & Blues Band.

BROKE BOLAND’S STRING SHOW

Dark Americana • Folk • Roots • String-driven arrangements

Broke Boland’s String Show takes Boland’s songs into a darker and more atmospheric setting.

Built around vocals, guitar, rhythm, and acoustic instrumentation, the String Show expands Boland’s songwriting with instruments such as cello, violin, mandolin, and percussion.

The result falls somewhere between a songwriter performance, an Americana ensemble, and an old traveling roots revue.

The String Show can move from quiet, intimate storytelling to aggressive rhythmic performances, making it adaptable to theaters, listening rooms, festivals, breweries, outdoor concert series, arts events, and support slots.

The String Show works especially well for:

Festivals • Americana bills • Folk events • Theaters • Listening rooms • Arts festivals • Outdoor concerts • Breweries • Regional touring bills

BROKE BOLAND'S RHYTHM & BLUES SHOW

(FKA Matty B and the Dirty Pickles) Rhythm & Blues • Roots Rock • Rockabilly • Rock & Roll

Broke Boland'S Rhythm & Blues SHOW brings the electric side of Boland’s music back to the front.

Drawing from rhythm and blues, roots rock, early rock & roll, rockabilly, and Boland’s earlier Dirty Pickles material, the band is built for a bigger stage and a louder room.

The full-band format puts groove and energy at the center while maintaining the storytelling and songwriting that runs throughout Boland’s catalog.

Where the String Show explores atmosphere and arrangement, the Rhythm & Blues Band emphasizes rhythm, movement, and the rough edges of Boland’s rock & roll history.

The Rhythm & Blues Band works especially well for:

Clubs • Festivals • Concert series • Rock & roll bills • Support slots • Outdoor stages • Regional touring • Full-night performances
